Vokonis just got in at the deep end of the heavy progressive realm. With their new album, "Grasping Time", Vokonis debut dual vocals, greater dynamic shifts and heavier, more complex songs. "Grasping Time" is the third album from the Swedish heavy prog-metal trio. The new album makes Vokonis blossom as a progressive beast, and the album tracks are drenched in blasting distortion, melody, and menace. The title track and digital single "Grasping Time" have since its release been heavily playlisted by Spotify and the band have reached a new audience. Vokonis third album is a milestone. With influences ranging from Baroness and Pink Floyd to Elder, Vokonis utilizes every color in their palette to create something wholly unique. "Grasping Time" features eight songs that clocks in at a total of 42 minutes. The music was written over a period of one year and features the last contribution by Emil on drums before he left the band. The album was recorded and mixed at Studio Underjord with Joona Hassinen and was mastered by Magnus Lindberg at Redmount Studios. Album art was drawn by Kyrre Bjurling.

Press Quotes

have for the most part, well I suppose in the past two or three years really started getting more into this genre. Not that I had never listened to any before, but I had never really engulfed my listening experience within the genre. With that I have found many great bands. Blackwulf, Againt The Grain, Stoned Jesus, Killer Boogie, Black Elephant to name a few. They are all great bands. After listening to this album, Vokonis are right on top of that heap

Every time you try to label 'AntlerQueen' there's a sly juke to lead you deeper into the song's wilderness. At the one minute mark the guitar heroics echo Thin Lizzy by way of the heaviest strains of 420 metal.

     —DECIBEL MAGAZINE, https://www.decibelmagazine.com/2019/08/28/track-p

Always melodic and synchronised. The chemistry shines out. Wonderfully accessible. Faultless. 10/10

     —Rock Queen Reviews , https://jennytate.wordpress.com/2019/02/27/vokonis

With Grasping Time Vokonis have adeptly pivoted from a run-of-the-mill stoner doom band into a much more complex beast full of psychedelic and traditional doom planted throughout.

     —Your Last Rites, https://yourlastrites.com/2019/08/06/vokonis-grasp

From the start to the end you will float into this ocean of melodies and it will be hard for you to stop it and get back to a normal life 98/100.

     —The Metal Mag, https://www.themetalmag.com/vokonis-grasping-time-

It's a testament to their sound that Vokonis can throw out eight, nine, ten minute tracks without having them feel drawn out of unpleasantly repetitive. The fuzzy stoner doom and wandering prog soundscapes are engaging even at that length.

     —The Independent Voice, https://www.theindependentvoice.org/2019/07/26/vok

'Grasping Time' has allowed the band to transcend the pitfalls of generic monotony within this genre, delivering an album that is equal parts heavy and groovy, yet delicate and intricate, and it is this which makes 'Grasping Time' ultimately enjoyable.

     —Powerplay, http://powerplaymagazine.co.uk/issue-223/

a progressive journey of foot-tapping lows and head-nodding highs.

     —Gbhbl, https://www.gbhbl.com/album-review-vokonis-graspin

Vokonis are a band of contrasts; equal parts heavy stoner groove colliding with ethereal melodies, yet it works and they totally command this sound

     —AveNoctum, http://www.avenoctum.com/2019/09/vokonis-grasping-

If Vokonis carry on along this trajectory, within an album or two they could become one of my favorite heavy-prog bands

     —AngryMetalGuy, https://www.angrymetalguy.com/vokonis-grasping-tim

Grasping Time révèle un combo sûr de son fait, très solide dans l'interprétation, rythmiquement rigoureux et ambitieux, avec une capacité intéressante à varier les atmosphères.
