Duane Eddy was perhaps the most important artist in the whole genre of rock 'n' roll instrumentals which burgeoned in the late '50s in the wake of the rock 'n' roll explosion, his uniquely distinctive twangy guitar sound spawning a string of hits through into the 1960s on both sides of the Atlantic. With Lee Hazlewood's trademark productions, featuring rasping sax, Duane helped inspire a generation of teenagers to pick up a guitar and emulate his technique.
